INT.CLASSROOM – DAY

ALFIE will introduce the show as its producer, giving a general tl;dr on what it’s about and will then shift into the narrative where CHARLIE, SHILO AND ROJA are sitting in English class talking about something that happened outside of lesson.

ALFIE

(Engagingly)

You are now listening to A Produktion’s “To Catch an English student”, tune in as we follow an English class that is part of a long investigation into the tragic passing of one of their classmates.

Opening theme plays

CHARLIE

(Determined)
Okay yeah, but you still haven’t told me if you won the fight mate.

ROJA

(Ambiguously)
I mean… I threw the last punch, so yeah technically I won.

CHARLIE

(Disgusted)
Yeah you lost that fight, you look like you lost at least.

SHILO

(Disappointed)

There was honestly just no need to lie.

ROJA

(Embarrassed)

I’m not lying I PROMISE you.

SHILO

(Quoting mockingly)
“I threw the last punch, so I technically won” while there is a split in your eyebrow.

ROJA

(Defeated)
I hate you guys.

CHARLIE

(Shocked)
Just don’t lie then!

ROJA

(Heated)
I DIDN –

TOKYO walks into the classroom unannounced.

TOKYO

(Stern)

I need to talk to SHILO.

SHILO

(Confused)
Its 8 in the morning man what did I d-

TOKYO

(Even more stern)
Come.

ROJA

(Worried and whispering)

Dude what did you do.

SHILO

(Monotone)

I don’t know man, doesn’t matter its just a teacher. Most I’ll get is a detention.

ROJA

(Increasingly worried)
No man that’s Detective Tokyo. He’s an underground detective for the local authority that hasn’t gotten a single case wrong. Why is a detective looking for YOU specifically.

TOKYO

(Bellowing)

This applies for all of you, not even one of you is to leave this classroom. SHILO, you are to come with me.

SHILO gets up from his seat as we hear footsteps of him walking over to the door where TOKYO stands.

TOKYO and SHILO leave the room.

INT. INTERROGATION CLASROOM – DAY

After having been asked by TOKYO, SHILO is sitting with TOKYO in a separate classroom that’s a couple doors down. They start talking about the recent passing of one of SHILO’s schoolmates.

TOKYO

(Stern)

Recently, am I’m sure you are aware. A classmate of yours has passed. Holly.

SHILO

(Dampened)

Yeah, no need to remind me.

TOKYO

(Stern)

Were you close?

SHILO

(Slightly aggravated)

A Childhood friend of mine, known her since I was 5. I was one of the first people the school told.

TOKYO

(Interrogative)

They tell you how she died?

SHILO

(Uninterested)

N-

TOKYO

(Stubborn)

Suicide. Took her own life at 2.46am last week. The reason why your class is on lockdown is because someone in your English class was the root cause for this death. Assisted Suicide. The reason why I pulled you out first, is because I’m sure it isn’t you. We’ve been through your chat logs, and we found nothing that could evidence it towards you. You’re allowed to leave; I’ve already gotten permission for you to leave school early so the office should let you just walk out.

SHILO

(Horrified)
What... Assisted suicide? Who in that classroom is horrible enough to do that to a person. Whoever it is tell me so I can beat the s-

TOKYO

(Sympathetic)

I know she was your close friend, but we’ll handle their punishment. Go home for now, take some time to rest. It was recent so I’m sure you aren’t fully recovered from it yet.

SHILO

(Sad)

I just miss her man.

TOKYO

(Sympathetic)

Go home SHILO. Have a good day.

SHILO

(Quiet)

Have a good day sir. Please find whoever it was.

TOKYO

(Determined)

That’s why I’m here.

SHILO and TOKYO stand up to leave the room.

SHILO and TOKYO leave the interrogation room.

 

INT. CLASSROOM – DAY

SHILO having now left, we see as TOKYO goes back into the classroom to tell the class what’s happening.

TOKYO

(Stern)

SHILO has been allowed to leave. Having been proven entirely innocent there is no need for him to be here. That’s the same for all of you, once you are proven entirely innocent, I will allow you to leave. Until then, the ONLY time you will be leaving this classroom is when I tell you to. Understood?

CHARLIE

(Worried and confused)

Innocent for what? What’s happening anyway, and what did you talk to SHILO about?

TOKYO

(Strict)

As you all know, a recent member of this school passed. Holly. However, it was not told to any of you why she has passed. I am here to tell you now that it was due to assisted suicide. One of the people in this class cyberbullied Holly to a point of no return and has caused this.

ROJA

(Angry)
And why do we need to be kept in here? I didn’t do anything so why are we all being kept in this hot English classroom.

TOKYO

(Poking at ROJA)

That’s a funny way to react to someone telling you that someone in this classroom is most likely an indirect murderer. Why do you not seem to care ROJA?

ROJA

(Panicking)

I-      I don’t know I just didn’t know her as much as SHILO or CHARLIE did. Never really talked to her so I quite frankly don’t care.

TOKYO

(Surprised)

Openly admitting that you don’t care about someone dying is bold ROJA. Almost as if you didn’t care IF she died while you bullied her?
